Ian Walling FAME Centrals Athletes Brave the Elements!
On Friday March 30th, six brave WNSO Athletes stripped down to their posing suits on Queen Street, Toronto in front of Old City Hall to help promote the first show on the 2007 FAME World Tour, the Ian Walling Centrals!
Spectators gathered on their lunch hour to watch the awesome display of brawn and beauty and to find out more about FAME! It was a bit chilly, but spirits were high and all the flexing and posing kept everybody warm! Thanks to WNSO Pro and FAME Muscle Champion, Maria Mikola, new WNSO Pro, FAME Muscle Model Champion and FAME Muscle athlete, Eric Franciosa, WNSO Pro and FAME Muscle athlete, Renaldo Gary, FAME Fitness Model, James Erdt, FAME Fitness Model, Jacqueline Sharp and FAME Fitness Model, Marla Arndt, for a fun afternoon and for your enthusiasm and support!
Passers-by got in on a little fun for pictures and the street car riders got a special show as they passed by!
Standing on crowded Queen Street in my posing suit at the end of March was not something I thought I would have to cross off my "To Do" list!
MY FITNESS COMPETITION JOURNEY
I needed a new goal for 2007! This was the year I would train and enter a fitness competition. It has actually been something I vasilated about for several years. I went as far as registering a few years ago, but "chickened out"! The thought of dedicating 12 weeks of my life to eating "clean" and working out more than my usual hour, 4 times a week, wasn't the reason I didn't follow through. I had to get over the fear of getting up on stage in a bikini wearing six inch stiletto heels infront of hundreds of people! I took the wonderful advice of my husband who suggested I register for an event, train and a plan on seeing it through. If by competition day I just can't do it, so what! My body will be in competition shape and I will have set and completed another goal. As the day came closer I was even more excited about the opportunity to step on stage and be proud to show off my hard work and dedication. I had tremendous support from my husband and children. They were interested in hearing about my training schedule... but not so interested in eating another dinner of chicken, salad and yams! The difficult part for any athlete training for a fitness competition is following the very strict nutrition plan. The only way to get bodyfat down low enough for muscles to POP out is through very "clean" eating, proper timing of meals and determination. Keep in mind that my body for competition is much leaner (10 pounds lighter) and therefore is my "competiton" weight. As soon as a competition is over I go back to my regular eating of healthy balanced meals and snacks.... BUT I also enjoy the "not so healthy" food, in moderation!
My first competition was the Ian Walling Classic which took place on March 31, 2007. A few days before the competition I was asked to be one of a few selected athletes to take part in the promotional blitz the day before the competition. We were promoting the event by appearing on the steps of City Hall on Queen Street in Toronto wearing our posing suits and creating quite a stir! A very cold but exciting day!

Some pictures from the Ian Walling Classic. It was so exciting!
